A cozy restaurant. A jubilant couple in love that has experienced more downs than ups in recent years. And then, a psychic bomb bursts! Eline Havenaar and Sytse Faber play the leading roles in the short horror film “Amy & I” by director Bastiaan Rook. Eline can be seen in films such as Buiten is het Feest, De Ververdeling, and Banker of the Resistance. Sytse Faber can be seen in the films On Air and Masterpiece.
The concept of “Amy & I” is based on the theme of mental health. Bastiaan worked with screenwriter Martijn Daamen to develop the story into a film that takes place entirely in one room. Of course, the challenge was to make the film interesting enough to show it in only one room, and with as few camera angles as possible. Due to its suspense, “Amy & I” falls into the mystery genre with horror elements. The mystery of the story slowly creeps up on you as a viewer. It starts with the seemingly fine relationship between Amy and her husband, John, but during their conversation, you get the feeling that there is more going on.
